Flynn PTO Update 12/16/12

Hey there Flynn Families - Buckle down - there are five more days before Winter break.  Maybe that means sleeping in, family game day, lazy mornings...  Hope you have a good one- see you in the new year!

CORRECTION from Flynn Flyer: The next PTO MEETING is scheduled for Thursday Jan. 3rd at 6:30, NOT Dec.13.  Thanks so much! Hope to see you there to start off the new year!!

PTO Pizza delivery this Tuesday from 4:30-6pm.  Don't forget to pick up your pizza!!!

This just in from the desk of Doug Davis, our Food Service Director- There has been a change in the new meal pattern regulations that will allow us to make the following changes to school lunches:

Additions to the salad bar:
- lowfat/fat free cottage cheese
- yogurt
- diced egg
- shredded cheese

Additions to the service lines:(high school I think?)

- rice and beans
- hot pasta sides
- heartier soups with meats and/or whole grains

Good news for our students!

The Health office is in need of some clothes to keep on hand for those times when some of our students have accidents. Elastic waist bands work best so the clothes can fit a variety of sizes and shapes. Thank you so much in advance for you assistance.
  • Sweatpants and pants with elastic waist bands (no jeans please) for both boys and girls, in sizes 5-12
  • Shirts for both boys and girls in sizes 5-12. No sweaters, jackets, or dress shirts please. No dresses or tights needed, thanks.

Thanks again, Mary Dunsmore, School Nurse

Snow Pants in good shape needed for a Flynn student.  Looking for a size 14 - preferably pants and not bib.  It is for a girl, so they can be any color.  Pants can be sent into the office - thanks in advance for your help!

LOTS of winter wear available at the end of the hall at the Winter Wear Swap. Walk all the way down the Kindergarten hallway to the front of the school - all the clothes are right there - be ready for Winter break and hopefully some snow!

Word in the Free Press is that BSD Superintendent, Jeanne Collins is a finalist in the search for a new Superintendent in the Addison County Supervisory District.  No word on when their final selection will be and whether Jeanne will remain at BSD or be leaving at the end of the schoolyear.

Do you have a 5th grader?  BSD recently announced to Hunt families that they would keep interim Principal, Rich Amato and interim Vice Principal, Lashawn Selles in place for a 2nd year.  The search for permanent Hunt administrators will begin in January 2014.

The 2013-14 proposed school budget has been announced with a 4.7% increase in spending and cuts totaling over a million dollars.  Click the link below to see a table of proposed cuts in the District.  Public comment sought! (that's us!)
