Flynn family PTO Update 1/9/12

Hey there Flynn Families - Hope to see families this Friday evening at the dinner - Have a great week!

Family Traditions Dinner this Friday!!!!  Bring your family and a yummy main dish to add to this annual potluck.  Does your family make a special dish that you would like to share?  Is there a special food that hearkens back to your family heritage?  No matter, make something!  We also encourage you to bring re-usable dishes so we make less garbage - every plate, fork and cup counts!!!  We will gather at 5:30 and the buffet will be open to eat by 5:45.  Come early for hot food and lots of choices!  Linger after dinner for ice cream, entertainment and great company!

World Music?  Karen Carr is compiling some world music to accompany our Family Traditions Dinner on Friday.  Do you have some CD's that could be used that evening?  If you are willing to lend them, put your name on them and deliver them to Karen Carr in the office.  All Cd's will be returned promptly.  Thanks!

PTO Nice to see so many parents at the PTO meeting last week. You are all welcome each and every month - come find out what's up at school and how you can be a part of it.  The minutes of the meeting will be out next week.  A link to the January Treasurer's Report is below.

Picture this game: There are two teams of 10 and 11 year-olds. Each team has to answer a smorgasbord of food-related questions in order to move forward in the game. The kids themselves are the life-sized game pieces, wearing straw-brimmed hats loaded with fruits and vegetables.

Annual Flynn Talent Show  You won't want to miss this annual event on February 17th!  Students are signing up their acts and starting to prepare for their big debut.  The show starts at 7pm and lasts until....  Be prepared for a late night out on the town!  Parent volunteers are needed both behind the scenes and in the stage gym.  If you have a child performing, this would be a good time for you to jump into a volunteer role - don't worry, we will make sure you don't miss your own munchkin on stage!!!  Take a look at the needs and email Karen Carr at kcarr@bsdvt.org to help out.  Don't delay - we hope not to have to call parents to volunteer.
  • 6:20 - 2 parents to help cue up performers and seat them in Stage gym
  • 6:30 - 1 parent to keep parents out of performer seating
  • 6:30 - 2 folks to help backstage to keep kids quiet and get them on stage
  • 6:00 - 1 person to help with lights
  • 6:45 - 1 person to direct kids exiting stage back to their seats

  1. Thanks, this is informative as always!

One thing, though, is that I don't think there's any explanation on here what the "Pizza orders due" item in the calendar is all about...
